We are an expression/movement-based community of LGBTQ+ friendly people looking to make more friends, attempting to explore the complexities of life through Flow. The Flow state, or being in the zone, is a mental condition of optimal performance and rewards you with the feeling of enjoyment. "Flow" was first named in 1975 by the positive psychologist Mihály Csíkszentmihályi. He interviewed painters who would forget to eat or sleep because of how involved they were in their art. Flow is directly related to change; the more experiences of flow, the better one adapts to different challenges. The state has also been shown to increase focus, confidence, imagination, creativity, boost the immune system, balance the nervous system, and cause the sensation of connection and blend between the action and actor. URI Flow encourages positive growth in its members by providing different physical and mental challenges. These challenges range from learning a new instrument, to 5-ball juggling, to meditation, to slacklining, and everything in between. Anyone can participate in flow and everyone has an outlet to experience flow. Come join us and invite a friend, take a break on the Quad, relax, and create some autotelic experiences. Breaks are necessary, procrastinate productively with Flow.
