Surfrider is a national nonprofit dedicated to protecting the country's oceans, waves, and beaches. This is the URI-specific chapter of the national foundation. We participate in local beach cleanups, local water-based activities such as surf days, and participate in coastal activism through petitions, letters to Congress, and attendance at Congressional meetings. We also collaborate with the Rhode Island state chapter, so there is a large network of external people backing this club. This is a great organization for students who care about making a difference and protecting our oceans.
