About this Event
Summer is over, and the wild plants of woods and roadsides are ending their season of growth – but the vegetable garden still has a lot to give. Learn how to extend the harvest season by protecting plants from frost and planting cold-tolerant vegetables to harvest into the winter. Once the harvest ends, put the garden to bed properly to build soil health and prepare for spring planting.
Dr. Rebecca Brown is a Professor of Plant Sciences at URI, where she directs the research, teaching and extension program on Vegetable Production. Together with her students she tests production methods and trials vegetable varieties at the Gardiner Crops Research Center on the URI campus.
