Web Presentation: Indigenous Collections: Care, Research & Representation

Lorén Spears, Executive Director of the Tomaquag Museum will present on how to best utilize your current collections of Indigenous books and archival materials in educating the public, guiding researchers, and exploring the representation of the Native community within libraries. She will also share strategies for evaluating books for accuracy, authenticity and Indigenous perspectives.

Presenter Bio: Lorén M. Spears, Narragansett, Executive Director of Tomaquag Museum, holds a Master’s in Education and received a Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa, from the University of Rhode Island for her dedicated work. She is an author, traditional artist and shares her cultural knowledge with the public through museum programs.
