LOVE TO READ: Children’s Book Illustrators Inspire Literacy

September 1-30, 2020 with Gallery Night on September 17, 5:00pm-9:00pm.

Explore the world of children books and the enchanting art that inspires children to love reading.

Often thought of as a secondary art form, this exhibit of original art in all media illuminates the dynamic fine art created to illustrate children’s books including paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolor; printmaking, drawing, collage, ceramics, construction, computer design and fabric art.  The exhibit will give a cross section of work by these artists, showing the amazing range of artwork and the creative process from beginning sketches to final art and published books.  Books may be ordered signed by the artist and readings from the featured books to be announced. 

The Children’s Book Illustrator exhibit featuring the work of 20 accomplished area book illustrators including Robert Alley, Mary Jane Begin, Kelly Brown, Nancy Cote, Cathren Housley, Kristin Kest, Terry Kole, Jason LeClair, Tammy Lyon, Salley Mavor, Ralph Masiello, Madolin Maxey, Cheryl Kirk Noll, Susan Novich, Yuko Okabe, Gail Page, Walter Silva, Rebecca Walsh, andCarol Way Wood.


*Tours of the exhibit with a mask and COVID question responses on Thursday and Friday every half hour from 3-5, and on Gallery Night 9/17 from 5-9pm
