The Adaptive Arts Program supplies art classes for people with disabilities living in our community and in the hospital setting. Classes are provided at both Eleanor Slater campuses and in our community based program. A variety of mediums and themes (often seasonal imagery, animals and flowers) are the “assignment” and through adaptive means , each artist is able to realize their full potential in artistic expression. Adaptive Arts provides a special freedom of expression and creativity for people with physical and cognitive disabilities. In some cases, this form of independence is the only means by which students can express themselves. Each artist works to overcome their challenges to freely make some truly beautiful artwork.
