The URI Department of Music’s University Artist Series presents the first in a series of contemporary music concerts featuring faculty & alumni performers and composers. This special concert features the music of Geoffrey Gibbs, with guest artists Erin Merceruio, soprano, Meghan Ryan, mezzo-soprano, Fred Van Ness Jr., tenor, Jason Shealy, bass-baritone,, Michel Norsworthy, clarinet, Joe DeMarco, vibraphone, Alexey Shabalin, violin I, Lois Finkel, violin II, Consuelo Sherba, viola, Emmanuel Feldman, cello,  and URI Music Professors René de la Garza, narrator and Brian Cardany, conductor. This is a premiere performance of the deeply inimate and personal piece ,setting the personal poems of the composer's father Alonzo Gibbs's to music.
