The first University Artists Series concert of the 2018-2019 season will feature Senior Lecturer Susan Thomas, flute and Artist/Teacher Kyle Forsthoff, percussion in an eclectic performance titled After the Light: Music for Flutes and Percussion  on October 14, 2018 at 3pm in the Fine Arts Concert Hall.  

Featuring composers from the US and the UK, and employing a multitude of percussion instruments and flutes, piccolos, and alto flute, the concert will include many members of the URI family. Flutists and URI alumnae Allison Lacasse and Jacqueline Wright will join Susan and Kyle in Thea Musgrave’s piece Voices of the Ancient World and URI alumna Hyunjung Choi will join for John Luther Adams’ After the Light. Recent alumnus Stefan Griffen will perform Alice Gomez’s Peruvian Dance Suite with Kyle, Susan and Allison, and the First Concerto for flute and percussion by Lou Harrison.
