Are you interested in a career with the federal government? Whether it be in diplomacy, international development, defense, intelligence, global sustainability, public health, science innovation or something else, a Boren Award will add highly sought-after proficiency in a language deemed critical to the US Federal Government.

Awards of up to $25,000 are available for freshmen through senior applicants (the Boren Scholarship) and up to $25,000 plus a $12,000 domestic supplement for graduate students (the Boren Fellowships).  If you are interested in learning or improving your proficiency in a preferred language/region, the Boren will fund the study abroad program of your choosing!

URI has been a top producer of Boren Scholars and Fellows, with 34 recipients in the past 12 years. Come learn more about the program, the application, and begin the process of sketching out your application.  The campus deadline for applying is January 3, 2023.
