https://web.uri.edu/gender-sexuality/Being out and coming out is a lifelong process for anyone in the queer community. However, for those of us who identify as a person with a sexuality and/or gender that is marginalized, coming out can be difficult. Not only does one have to choose to come out every time they have a new friend, teacher, coach, boss, roommate, significant other, etc., but the person who comes out is often at risk of losing people, jobs, and opportunities they love when doing so. Please come, hear from students at URI, and learn about their lived experiences. This is sure to be a fascinating opportunity to learn about the lifelong process of coming out and be inspired for how to approach the next time you come out or about how to be a more supportive and knowledgeable ally.
