#special_collections_display_works_of_quaker_illustrator_fritz_eichenberg_from_uri_special_collectionsThis display features illustrations by local Quaker illustrator Fritz Eichenberg (October 24, 1901 – November 30, 1990) from URI's Special Collections. Eichenberg was a German-American illustrator who worked primarily in wood engraving. His best-known works were concerned with religion, social justice and nonviolence.
Eichenberg also served as the head of the art department at the University of Rhode Island and laid out the printmaking studios. Eichenberg had taught art at the New School for Social Research and at Pratt Institute and was part of the WPA's Federal Arts Project.
