Student culinary teams from six high schools across Rhode Island will be competing in the 2023 Rhode Island High School Seafood Cook-Off, hosted by the Warwick Area Career & Technical Center, on Thursday, April 27, from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and the public is invited.

The teams will be serving up their own original recipes for locally caught summer flounder. The audience will vote for their favorite dish, and the winning team will be treated to lunch and have their recipe featured at a Newport Restaurant Group restaurant as a special.

The event is free to attend, but RSVPs are required. 

The student teams come from the William M. Davies, Jr. Career and Technical High School; the East Providence High School Career and Technical Center; the Newport Area Career and Technical Center; the Warwick Area Career and Technical Center; the Westerly High School Career and Technical Program; and the Woonsocket Area Career and Technical Center.

Sponsors of the 2023 Rhode Island Seafood Cookoff are the Warwick Area Career & Technical Center, Rhode Island Sea Grant, the Cooperative Extension Food Safety Education Program in the University of Rhode Island Department of Fisheries, Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Newport Restaurant Group, the Rhode Island Hospitality Association, and the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management.
