Join us for NARCAN training with Dr. Anita Jacobson, from the URI Pharmacy.

Free NARCAN will be mailed to all Rhode Island residents who register.

At the completion of this activity learners will be able to:
1. Describe how to effectively recognize and respond to an opioid-involved breathing emergency, including considerations with xylazine and illicitly manufactured fentanyl.
2. Discuss how to use unregulated substances more safely and where to find recovery resources.
3. Dispel myths and provide facts related to medications for opioid use disorder, passive fentanyl exposure, various naloxone formulations, and liability concerns.

Dr. Anita Jacobson is a Clinical Professor at the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy. She is the Program Director of the Community First Responder Program which focuses on harm reduction, overdose education and naloxone outreach to at-risk populations throughout New England. Her areas of teaching include substance use disorders, mental health, cultural sensitivity, health disparities, motivational interviewing, and healthcare policy.
