Join the Gender & Sexuality Center online on Wednesday June 16th from 8-10 pm for a discussion on Queer Poly Pride!
It is estimated that approximately 5% of Americans are currently engaged in polyamorous partnerships, yet members of this community -- and their relationships -- are often misunderstood and misrepresented. Because LGBTQ+ folk are reportedly more likely to engage in poly relationships, stigmas associated with polyamory can increase the prejudice and discrimination already experienced within the community. In this first-ever URI program on poly identities and pride, presenters and URI alumnae Jennifer Hellmann ('13) and Briana Hellmann ('13) will introduce terms, concepts, and practices of polyamory; demystify common misconceptions; and share their journeys in the community.!
