Monarch Butterflies
About this Event
During this presentation, you will learn about the life cycle of the garden friend known as the Monarch Butterfly (Danaus plexippus) from a seasoned URI Master Gardener. Sandra Cook is a collector of monarch eggs from late June to October, in order to raise them into adults, giving her a unique perspective on these organisms. Her garden is certified as a National Wildlife Backyard Habitat, a Monarch Way station and was featured in R.I. Monthly Magazine. She is also part of the Homegrown National Park initiative, whose goal is to encourage native habitats in our own backyards, thereby supporting species like the Monarch Butterfly. Come join us for this interesting look into the world of these beautiful butterflies!
This and other workshops offered through the URI Master Gardener Program are a free educational service and open to all. Please register by calling the library at 401-683-9457 or online.
