About this Event
60 Upper College Rd, University of Rhode Island, Kingston, RI 02881, USA
Baba Onifade Oluwo is a marine scientist and Yoruba Babalawo. He was part of an expedition to the bottom of the ocean which brought back the first germophologic icons that are now at the Museum of Natural History in New York. He will display rocks from the ocean floor, share clips from his expedition, and compare western scientific approaches to the deep sea with Yoruba ways of knowing. This event explores points of connection between STEM and Africana Studies, opening the door to innovative thinking about solutions to global challenges.
