Join the URI Center for Nonviolence and Peace Studies as we celebrate Humans Rights Day and introduce CIRIGHTS, the world's largest human rights dataset. Now housed at URI, CIRIGHTS contains quantitative measures for 72 internationally recognized human rights in 195 countries. The data, along with a suite of visualization tools, will be made freely available to scholars, students, NGOs, and anyone else interested in tracking global human rights. URI students and project leaders will use the dataset to produce an annual International Human Rights Report, the first installment of which will be presented and discussed. Come hear student presentations about the dataset along with presentations by project leaders:
- Dr. Skip Mark, associate professor of political science at URI and director of the Center for Non-Violence and Peace Studies
- Dr. David Cingranelli, professor of political science at Binghamton University and co-director of Binghamton's Human Rights Institute.
Refreshments will be served.
