Albert Chong works in the mediums of photography, installation, and sculpture. A contemporary artist who celebrates the beauty of images and objects, his works focus on personal mysticism, spirituality, race, and identity. Most of his photographic works have been in the genres of still life in black-and-white and color. They include playful juxtapositions and formal still life to works that represent and reanimate Chong’s family history.

Chong was born in Kingston, Jamaica, W. I., in 1958, and is the youngest of eight children of merchant Chinese and Afro Jamaica parents. He immigrated to the United States in 1977 at the age of 19, lived in Brooklyn, N.Y.,  and attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where he received a B.F.A. with Honors in 1981.
