How can you conduct high-quality research about other countries without leaving home? We will discuss some best practices and how to avoid or minimize common mistakes about other cultures and countries. We will examine which country has the best human rights in the world and how we know. We will also discuss some of the issues you may face when conducting research in non-democratic countries using an example of a survey experiment conducted in Iran.
