Title: AI for earthquake and volcano monitoring
Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) is changing how we observe and interpret the restless Earth. Every day, massive amounts of data from seismometers, satellites, and other sensors capture clues about earthquakes and volcanic activity. Using AI, we can now detect patterns too subtle for the human eye, spot early signs of unrest, and gain new insights into what happens beneath the surface. In this talk, I will show how AI and machine learning are transforming the monitoring of earthquakes and volcanoes—and how this collaboration between Earth science, computer science, and engineering may help us build safer, more resilient communities.
