Register HERE for the June 16th virtual employer panel.

Are you curious as to how employers actually evaluate candidates, and what helps applicants stand out? Join this program, hosted by Brown University and the University of Rhode Island (URI), for a virtual employer panel designed to give students a behind-the-scenes look at the recruiting process from the employer perspective.

This session will spotlight 4 consulting firms: Tighe & Bond (Engineering), The Brattle Group (Finance), Weston & Sampson (Environmental), and Oliver Wyman (Public Affairs), who will share behind-the-scenes insights on how students can strengthen their job search strategies and make strong impressions through professional communication and personal branding across their application materials, networking, and interviewing.

What you'll learn:

  • How to craft a clear, compelling “tell me about yourself” that resonates with consulting employers
  • Strategies for effectively communicating transferable skills and aligning experiences to consulting roles
  • How to develop and deliver strong, story-driven interview responses that showcase impact and problem-solving
  • Best practices for networking with consulting professionals and building meaningful, lasting connections

Event Format (1 hour):

  • Employer panel discussion (35 min)
  • Student Q&A (15 min)
  • Career advisor wrap up with key takeaways and best practices (10 min)

Each quarter, we’ll feature a new industry theme, a new group of employers, and a new job search topic, so you can keep building your career toolkit throughout the year.

Consistent with its public mission, the University of Rhode Island provides equal opportunity and inclusive access to events, services, and programs regardless of protected status.
