Thirsty Planet: Engineering Safe Drinking Water

This semester the Faculty Office Hour series is devoted to a single topic: potable drinking water. At URI, two initiatives, Water for the World and Water: E2S2 (Water: Engineering, Economics, Science and Society), are dedicated to its study, calling access to safe drinking water the defining issue of this century.

Join us to hear from Thomas Boving, Ph.D., professor of civil and environmental engineering and geosciences. Professor Boving is a researcher whose interests include environmental engineering, hydrogeology, water treatment, and groundwater remediation. He received a Fulbright-Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Award, which is enabling him to spend the spring 2023 semester teaching at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee while conducting research on technologies aimed at cleaning up polluted groundwater and soil. He will join us from India to discuss his research there as well as work in Indonesia and Rhode Island.
