DESCRIPTION:This semester Faculty Office Hour will visit with professors fr
 om the departments of art and art history\, music\, and theatre to hear abo
 ut their own work\, their teaching\, and how they each use their chosen med
 ium to advocate for social justice.\n\nEmmett Goods is an assistant profess
 or in the Department of Music. A native of Pittsburgh\, he attended the Pit
 tsburgh High School for the Creative and Performing Arts and studied briefl
 y at Berklee College of Music before earning his bachelor’s degree in jazz 
 studies from the Hartt School of Music under the direction of legendary tro
 mbonist Steve Davis. He earned a master’s degree\, also in jazz studies\, f
 rom Georgia State University and a Doctor of Musical Arts in trombone perfo
 rmance from West Virginia University. Dr. Goods has performed and recorded 
 with a wide range of well-known artists from the jazz\, pop\, and Latin gen
 res including Billy Taylor\, Eddie Harris\, Aretha Franklin\, and Gladys Kn
 ight. He has also performed with classical orchestras and chamber ensembles
 \, made television appearances\, and leads his own jazz groups. Before join
 ing URI\, he was a private instructor and teacher/band director at several 
 public and charter schools\, assistant director of bands and brass instruct
 or at Benedict College\, adjunct professor at Goodwin College\, and visitin
 g professor at Springfield College.\n\nThis webinar will be hosted by URI D
