The MSSC would like to invite you to the 2022 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Luncheon, co-sponsored by the Africana Studies and the URI Chaplains Association.

Pilar McCloud, chief executive officer and founder of A Sweet Creation Youth Organization, will serve as keynote speaker for this year’s Unity Luncheon speaking about the reality and legacy of Dr. King, who was considered a radical for his time and whose ideas in the current political environment may still be considered radical by many.

Oftentimes it is the convenient and utopianized version of Dr. King that is celebrated. On this day we will embrace and welcome the complex and radical version of the man who even post-assassination, continues guide mobilize people in the ongoing fight for equality.

Catering will be by GeeGee's Soul Food, and the event will take place on Wednesday, 2/2/22 at 12pm in the Multicultural Student Services Center's Hardge Forum.

Here you will find the registration form: https://bit.ly/MLKLuncheon2022 and both attached, and in the thread you will find the flyer. Please encourage the scholars you advise to both register and attend as well.

Due to current restrictions, we are capping the attendance at 50 people, however, we will have a live streaming option found here: http://stream.uri.edu/

We hope you can join us.
