Virtual EventJoin Community, Equity and Diversity for the DE&I 365 Symposium
Session Description: This module is the fourth of four required workshop modules to earn CED’s Social Justice & Inclusion Microcredential. The module presents and discusses the contours of microaggressions, offering examples of inclusive language to combat microaggressions as a target or a bystander. The intended objectives for this module are to (a) describe origins of the term microaggressions (i.e., identity-based abuse); (b) define microaggressions and explain how they differ from macroaggressions; (c) differentiate between agents and targets of microaggressions; (d) identify the manifestations and consequences of microaggressions, (e) delineate the three types of microaggressions, (f) delineate the ten microaggression themes, and (g) practice strategies for responding to microaggressions as a target or bystander. A Q&A will follow the presentation. Intended for University faculty and staff.
