This course trains lay responders to overcome any reluctance to act in emergency situations and to recognize and care for life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in adult, children and infants. This course also provides the lay responder with the knowledge and skills necessary in an emergency to help sustain life and to minimize pain and the consequences of injury or sudden illness until professional medical help arrives.  The first aid portion of this course is designed to teach participants to recognize and respond to emergencies including sudden illness, poisonings, and cold related emergencies. Additionally, participants will learn how to administer first aid care for bleeding emergencies and bone and joint injuries
