In this FREE professional development series, early childhood education professionals will be introduced to foundational information on the concept and nature of psychological trauma as well as an overview of common responses to traumatic stress in children and families. The effects of traumatic stress on the developing brain will be discussed. Presenters will offer trauma-informed interpretations of common behavioral issues as well as strategies for implementing trauma-informed care in ECE settings. Finally, participants will engage in a guided discussion on the promotion/development of policies and procedures that are trauma-sensitive for children, teachers, and administrators in ECE.

Consistent with its public mission, the University of Rhode Island provides equal opportunity and inclusive access to events, services, and programs regardless of protected status.
