Nelli Ruotsalainen graduated in 2011 from URI as a Gender and Women's Studies major, returned to her home country Finland, completed a Masters in Gender Studies, with a thesis on “discursive neocolonial complicity in the recruitment of nurses from the Philippines to Finland,” and went on to co-found the Feminist Party of Finland. She will be discussing the ups and downs of forming the party, doing political work, and putting into action one’s undergraduate learning and convictions.
