Virtual Event

Please join us for a virtual seminar by Dr. Larissa Williams from Bates College entitled: "Using zebrafish to study developmental toxicology"

Abstract: The zebrafish, originally from the Ganges, has become a powerful aquatic tool to study developmental toxicology. In the Williams Lab at Bates College we use the zebrafish to investigate the role of transcription factors in mediating cellular stress in response to chemicals. In particular, the lab studies transcription factors in the nuclear factor erythroid-2 family (NRF) that are responsive to chemicals that create an imbalance in the cellular redox state. This talk will cover our work that has investigated developmental exposure to environmentally relevant chemicals to understand their molecular mechanism of action as well as the broader impact of such exposures for environmentally-relevant species as well as humans.
