From South Providence to Washington, DC: An Entrepreneur's Journey
Join the College of Business and the College of Engineering for the bi-annual Anthony J. Risica Lecture Series on Innovation and Entrepreneurship featuring alumnus, Roby Luna ’04.
A native Rhode Islander, Roby Luna ’04 grew up in South Providence and earned a degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Rhode Island’s College of Business in 2004. Inspired by mentors, professors, and classmates to follow his entrepreneurial drive, Roby eventually landed in Washington, DC. With his business partner, Anthony Rivera, he acquired the company, Aretec in 2012 with the desire to build it into a reputable IT Services company. Today, Aretec is a thriving data science firm experiencing triple digit growth. The company specializes in software development, data analytics, cyber security, and enterprise infrastructure, and primarily serves as a federal contractor for the US Government.
Roby will join us to share his entrepreneurial journey and offer insights on how others can follow the same path. He will also give an overview of Aretec, and reveal some exciting news about the company.
There will be an opportunity for questions & answers at the end of the talk. A dessert reception will follow.
