URI Town Hall: Offering Resources and Strategies for Supporting Immigrant Students, Faculty, and Staff

Wednesday, March 22 at 3:00pm to 5:00pm

Memorial Union 50 Lower College Rd, University of Rhode Island, Kingston, RI 02881, USA

The Office of Community, Equity and Diversity will hold a town-hall style Critical Community Conversation (CCC) entitled,  A URI Town Hall Offering Resources and Strategies for Supporting Immigrant Students, Faculty, and Staff Members.

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse was recently invited to visit URI by the University of Rhode Island/American Association of University Professors. During his visit on March 6, Sen. Whitehouse discussed U.S. immigration policies, their impact on higher education, and how such policies may affect the lives of visiting academics, scholars, students, and their families.

URI community members will be able to (a) discuss relevant issues and concerns facing their units in supporting students, faculty, and staff; (b) describe action steps their units are taking to respond to these issues and concerns; and (c) offer advice and resources on how allies can support students, faculty, and staff who are most impacted by recent immigration legislation.

This event is free and open to the public.
