The University of Rhode Island (URI) will present the 35th Annual Seminar By the Sea Northeast Regional Conference in Newport, Rhode Island March 11-13, 2020. Seminar by the Sea is the flagship professional development conference of the URI College of Pharmacy and approximately 300 pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare providers from throughout New England attend. The conference includes continuing education credits for pharmacists and nurses as well as ample opportunities for professional networking with colleagues and healthcare industry representatives in our exhibit theater.
The conference is organized into two days of plenary sessions (March 12 and 13) preceded by a day of pre-conference workshops (March 11).
The theme for the conference this year is, “Emerging Healthcare Trends: Treating the Whole Patient” and will include presentations on topics including pharmacogenomics, the drug pipeline, monoclonal antibody stewardship, substance abuse, wound care, vaccine hesitancy, CBD products as well as regulatory and public health updates provided by speakers from the Rhode Island Department of Health and the U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Agency. Patient cases and stories will be an integral part of the program. Pre-conference workshops on March 11 are, “Advancing Workforce Well-Being and Resilience to Build Long-Term Change” and “The 11 Habits of Highly Effective Preceptors: Elevating Pharmacy Precepting.”
Target audience: This continuing education activity is designed for pharmacists and nurses in community, hospital, managed care, long-term care, and academic settings as well as health professional students, residents, and fellows.
