URI Graduate Student Conference

The 7th annual URI Graduate Student Conference, Talking Beyond Disciplines: Rising Tides and Sea Changes, is a broadly interdisciplinary conference that takes as its focus the transformations, crises, and anxieties of our varied disciplines that are crashing on our (real and metaphorical) shores.

Graduate students from URI and other universities nationwide will present their innovative scholarly work in panels, a poster session, Pecha Kucha roundtables, creative works, and a film screening.  Sidney I. Dobrin, professor of English at University of Florida, saltwater enthusiast, and author of Natural Discourse: Toward Ecocomposition (2002) will give the Keynote Address.

Caroline Gottschalk Druschke, URI Writing and Rhetoric professor, senior fellow with the Coastal Institute, and coordinator of the Communicating Science Interdisciplinary Cluster for the Harrington School of Communication and Media, will give the Plenary Address.
