The #ChooseYou health expo will include URI graduate and undergraduate students from a variety of health disciplines providing you with local resources, information and advice on better options for pain management and living active, healthy lifestyles. One example being the promotion of the #ChoosePT campaign -- created by the American Physical Therapy Association with the vision of reducing opioid addiction by encouraging people and physicians to choose PT first for pain alleviation techniques.
100 percent of the proceeds from this event is going to benefit the Providence Center's new Jim Gillen Anchor Youth Recovery Center opening this year. Having access to this center will provide teens with healthy social lives and rehab coaches to aid in their recovery from addiction, so that they, too, can go to college and live successful lives.
