Open Educational Resources at UMass Amherst -- Five Years of Experience

Marilyn Billings, Scholarly Communications & Special Initiatives Librarian at UMass Amherst, will speak about the UMass Library Open Education Initiative. Since spring 2011, UMass has provided grants to faculty for using existing free or low-cost information resources in their courses. The program has generated over $1.3 million in student savings. Ms. Billings is an alumna of URI's Graduate School of Library and Information Studies. She heads the UMass Office of Scholarly Communication and is a recognized leader in the scholarly communication field.
