One American Family: A tale of North and South as told through nineteenth-century clothing and textiles.

One American Family: A Tale of North and South as told through nineteenth-century clothing and textiles is an historic textiles exhibition hosted by the the Department Textiles, Fashion Merchandising and Design at the College of Business- open through December 6.

The exhibition seeks to explore the relationship between North and South in the years surrounding the American Civil War.  Objects from the URI Historic Textile and Costume Collection (HTCC) once owned by the Providence, RI and Charleston, SC based Williams-Crouch family reveal the complex social, political, and economic entanglements of the Triangle Trade. 

The exhibition is open in the Quinn Hall Textile Gallery at the University of Rhode Island Kingston campus from April 22nd to December 6th, 2019. Tours available by appointment.
