On Sunday, April 8th at 6 PM, the URI Women's Center is hosting a unique, educational event on the subject of Relationship Violence. The Program features a critically acclaimed Irish play & group discussion that truly brings to life this important subject and connects with students in a memorable way to galvanize awareness and positive, long-term change.
This program illustrates a couple’s relationship that soon spirals out of control.
Key takeaways from the Program include:
1) Discover how quickly a relationship can go from healthy to unhealthy
2) Learn the warning signs of intimate partner controlling behaviors
3) Learn how to support friends/victims to get out of abusive relationships
4) Find out how to avoid/gain freedom from unhealthy relationships
5) How to be a resource for positive change on our campus & throughout life
The goal is to provide students with the knowledge on how to avoid or escape
abusive relationships in their lifetime. Currently, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men will
experience some form of abuse in their lifetime. Education is the key to changing
those numbers – and making sure its starts here on our campus.
