The House of Hope/ URI Master Gardener Project, which revolves around a garden located at the Shippen Ave House of Hope facility, began in 2015. The goal of the project is to use the garden to engage, educate, and serve both the House of Hope community and those living in the neighborhood. The garden beautifies the neighborhood, provides habitat and food sources for pollinators, and produces vegetables for those living in this and other House of Hope facilities.
Please join us Saturday, June 25th from 9:30am-noon at 65 Shippen Ave in Warwick for our Garden Opening Day. This day will serve as a workday for our volunteers where we will lay down mulch in the flower and native plant beds around the perimeter of the garden, insert plant identification tags, and continue our weeding and watering efforts. Members from the community are welcome to join us for a URI Master Gardener led tour of the garden, which is based on Co-Project Leader Stephanie Trabucco’s design plan. Co-Project Leader Bill Baddeley will also be giving a talk about soil health and compost.
