David Vacchi, one of the nation's leading scholars on student veteran issues will speak about best practices in working with student veterans, service members and their student dependents.
A retired US Army lieutenant colonel and a doctoral candidate in the Educational Policy and Leadership program at UMass-Amherst, Vacchi has focused his research and coursework on this important topic.
The chair-elect of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Veteran's Knowledge Community, Vacchi’s theory and conceptual framework will be the centerpiece of a forthcoming chapter in the Higher Education Handbook of Theory and Research (Vol. 29 Spring 2014). Vacchi is also a 2012 recipient of a NASPA Foundation small research grant to develop a survey instrument to better understand the student veteran population.
