This week's speaker for the BES seminar series:
Dr. Larissa Patterson from Rhode Island College will present, "Pigment pattern development and evolution in Danio species"
The talk is Friday, Feb. 3 at 3pm in Pharm 170 followed by refreshments. A pizza lunch for Grad Students is 1-2 in CBLS 452.
Dr. Patterson's brief research statement:
Developmental Biology of Animals. Whether it’s the stripes of a tiger or the shocking colors of poison dart frogs, pigment patterns are among the most stunning and diverse traits of animals. I use the pigment patterns of zebrafish, Danio rerio, and its relatives to understand the cellular behaviors and molecular signals that underlie pigment pattern development and how changes in these processes produce the diversity of patterns found in nature.
There will be opportunities to meet with the speaker before the talk, or you can chat after the seminar. Please contact Steve Irvine (sirvine@uri.edu) to set up a meeting time.
